Ragheb Ayad

Challenge the European standard  of depth illustion by  placing  figures on horizontal planes which characterized ancient Egyptian art.  Created tapestry-like paintings using colors taken from Coptic tapestry to paint Ancient Egyptian human and animal forms.

Added rich colors to  art inspired by Pharonic and  folk art .

1964 - Combines granite and bronze for a modern rendition of ancient Egypt sculpture.

Uses jackal figure of Anubis in collages, contrasting the ancient symbol of the underworld with fashion models, cars and other symbols of the modern world.

Effat Nagy

Incorporated zodiacal symbols from the ceilings of the ancient Egyptian Dandur temple in her paintings and introduced multi-dimsionality and created assemblages of culturally powerful artifacts including, in one instance, two fully intact crocodile hides.
